My name is Jens Juul, and I'm a photographer. I'm trained as both photographer and portrait painter and have also done graphic design for years. I recently won the portraiture category in The Sony World Photography Awards with my series Six Degrees.
Le forti impressioni costituiscono la forza motrice del mio lavoro. Dietro una forte impressione c'è sempre una storia interessante e spesso non raccontata. Ovviamente le forti impressioni si possono vedere nei notiziari, dove guardiamo quotidianamente immagini di hot spot globali o luoghi colpiti da disastri improvvisi. Queste immagini che qualsiasi fotografo può inseguire in concorrenza con altri fotografi con accesso agli stessi canali di notizie. Ma a parte i luoghi spettacolari e di crisi che colpiscono, in realtà credo che si possano trovare forti impressioni intorno a tutti noi.
(N.d.r.) Biotope è il titolo di un reportage che Juul ha realizzato a Roskilde durante un'edizione di uno dei più grandi e importanti festival di musica e cultura dell'Europa continentale.
Il Festival raduna ogni anno migliaia di giovani il cui scopo è quello di vivere il presente senza porsi domande di alcun genere. Passato e futuro si annullano, ma già questa è una risposta, o se vogliamo, un segno del tempo che verrà.
Strong impressions form the motive power of my work. Behind a strong impression always lies an interesting and often untold story. Of course the strong impressions can be seen on the news, where we daily watch pictures from global hot spots or places hit by sudden disasters. These pictures any photographer can chase in competition with other photographers with access to the same news channels. But apart from the spectacular and crisis hit places I actually believe that strong impressions can be found around all of us.
(Editor's note) Biotope is the title of a reportage that Juul made in Roskilde during an edition of one of the largest and most important music and culture festivals in continental Europe.
The Festival gathers every year thousands of young people whose aim is to live the present without asking questions of any kind. Past and future cancel each other out, but this is already an answer, or if we like, a sign of the time to come.
